Join our online science cafe and find out about the latest new and astronomical phenomena.
A very rare event will occur on the 31st August and our science center organizes
an event with 3 sessions for the general public to join.
Find out what happened during the Perseid meteor shower and the results of our scientific observations.
Ara Mahdessian who is a student at The English School Nicosia,
has attended the KITION ASTRONOMY ACADEMY fot the preparation
for the International Olympiad for Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Last hear he achieved a Bronze Medal and this year
he achieved the first Gold Medal for Cyprus in this competition.
We are very proud that the good hard and hard work done by our student
brought the best possible results and outcome. Congratulations to Ara Mahdessian
and the KITION ASTRONOMY ACADEMY.
Another Cypriot, Constantinos Troullias, who is studying Biological Sciences at the University of Lecester,
became the first Analog Astronaut at the AATC in Krakow to carry out a solo mission.
We are proud to present another one of our students to have achieved a
worldwide unique expedition. Leran about this expedition and the scientific part of it.

Constantinos Troullias
graduated from the American Academy Larnaca, Cyprus
with a High Academic Achievement of a yearly average of 95.83%.
At the moment he is a 3rd year student pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Leicester, England.
He is planning to do a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and Astrobiology.
He joined the Expedition 67 to simulate a mission on the lunar surface and carry out experiments
which are also carried out in space onboard the International Space Station.
WHAT IS A METEOR SHOWER?
The meteor shower happens when Earth passes through the path of a comet.
When this happens, the bits of comet debris, most no larger than a grain of sand,
create streaks of light in the night sky as they burn up in Earth's atmosphere.
Bits of debris which enter Earth's atmosphere are called meteors.
WHAT IS AN ANALOGUE ASTRONAUT?
Analogue astronaut is an individual that decided to play the role of astronaut during a simulated crewed mission.
Depending on the study and environment a different requirement could be applied for a candidate for analog astronaut
